I’m excited to announce that my latest audiobook, “The Prohibition Era and Policing: A Legacy of Misregulation”, written by Wesley M. Oliver, has met the approval of the rights holder, University Press Audiobooks, and has passed ACX/Audible quality assurance, and is now available for download on Audible & Amazon.

This audiobook explains the history of the regulation (or misregulation) of police, which lead up to the current climate of BLM and the movement to defund police. I hope you find it enlightening!

The title is certainly apropos for someone whose brand is “Joe’s SpeakEasy”. But what you may not know is that my Great-Great Uncle, Oscar Gerhard Haukedahl, was a detective with the Spokane, Washington Police Department, and during Prohibition he was assigned to the “Dry Squad”, whose responsibilities included chasing down the rum-runners coming in from Canada! Uncle Oscar later became Chief of Police in Spokane.

(This picture of the Haukedahl family was taken at my Great Great Grandmother's funeral. Standing in front of Oscar (circled) is his sister (my Great Grandmother) Inger Marie (Haukedahl) Quinn. Note: my grandmother was born in February, 1909, and the picture was taken in September of 1908, so...well, YOU do the math!)
